What called you to this work?

I am called to the work I do because of who I am. All too often, people of color and those whose bodies and identities are labeled as less than or powerless are left out of conversations. I will not let that be the case in my community.

Favorite quote or scripture related to justice:
“A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true.”- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Favorite book?
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.
Favorite thing about Reno?
Reno has community; it truly is “The Biggest Little City in the World.” We are an urban city that has shows and festivals and all kinds of events, yet we are small enough to the point where you know who your neighbors and community members are.
