FAVORITE QUOTE OR SCRIPTURE RELATED TO JUSTICE:

¡Sí se puede! – Cesar Chávez

A rallying cry for the Latinx community in moments of injustice. When I started to become involved in this kind of the work, the immense power that these 3 words had was breathtaking! They remind me of those before me, who forged the path to continue fighting for justice.

WHAT CALLED YOU TO ACT?

My existence is a radical act. I am a formerly undocumented Mexican immigrant who grew up in poverty in a country that isn’t always accepting of immigrants, people of color, or the poor. Seeing the need in my community has always been my drive to provide a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves.

FAVORITE BOOK:

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT RENO:

Reno has a special place in my heart because of it’s community. We have a diverse population that provides it’s fellow citizens with different perspectives and traditions. We are an urban city, but we haven’t lost our human touch.
